James and Deidre Turner are the founders and lead pastors of Encounter Church. Fueled by a desire to reach unchurched people, they began Encounter in their living room in 2014.  Encounter Church is now an engaging community of faith where people can experience the life-giving message of Jesus.  James and Deidre were married in 1994 and have 3 daughters (Emily, Mariah, & Mikayla); 1 son-in-law (Blaine); and 1 grandson (Jude).

In addition to her role at Encounter, Deidre is also an educator and the Curriculum Director for Dawson Education Service Co-Op NTE.

Outside of ministry, James likes to golf, hunt, eat at great restaurants, and travel.  James and Deidre also have a mild (okay, not mild) obsession with coffee.  If you can't find them, check the local coffee shops.
